Full, detailed debunking of every lie about the late Hugo Chávez
http://lamatters.blogspot.com/2013/03/venezuela-busting-some-neocon-myths_22.html

I spent literally hours a day every day debunking disinformation, fear mongering, and propaganda by the Continental Right about Chavez after his death. Both his domestic opponents, the Fox News parrots, and their corporate overlords here in the US went into overdrive with the spin machine. They literally would have danced on his grave if they could have. They have that much disrespect for someone who died of cancer.

This is an epic article. Bookmark it for repeated future reference anytime some conservative tries to spread more lies about Hugo Chavez. Here are some other citations I accumulated:

The Minimum Wage

Where it is, where it should be, and where it could be. As noted previously, I’m an advocate for a staggered Min.Wage. For small businesses with low overall profit margins it should be around $9/hour. For medium sized businesses with moderate profits, around $12. For corporate behemoths like Walmart that rake in billions, it should be at least $15.

A fair days wage for a fair days work to ensure that the workers who actually created the wealth get to keep more of it. This system would also stop the predatory capitalism greed that leads to a highly consolidated Oligopoly (or even a Monopoly). Small towns and locally owned small businesses would have a fighting chance again.

Bad Priorities
We have a 3rd world electrical grid too and monumental repairs desperately needed on a lot of major infrastructure. Add to this the need for large scale Green energy projects. Why are we not investing in building?

Robert Reich: Why Obama Should Be Attacking Casino Capitalism -- Both Romney's Bain and JPMorgan

robertreich:

I wish President Obama would draw the obvious connection between Bain Capital and JPMorgan Chase.

That way his so-called “attack” on private equity is neither a personal attack on Mitt Romney nor a generalized attack on American business.

It’s an attack on a particular kind of capitalism that…

Robert Reich: Break Up The Big Banks, Says the Dallas Fed

robertreich:

As the Supreme Court shows every sign of throwing out “Obamacare” and leaving 30 million Americans without health insurance, another drama is being played out in the quiet corridors of the Federal Reserve system that may affect even more of us.

This is the problem with unregulated, predatory capitalism: the big fish eat the little fish until there are no more little fish.  There *have* to be counter-mechanisms to the natural compulsion of capitalism to form oligopolies and monopolies.  This is where our governments come into play.  They are the ONLY thing that can reign in corporate tyranny.

You have to see this banking merger chart: http://motherjones.com/politics/2010/01/bank-merger-history

From it: “The nation’s 10 largest financial institutions hold 54 percent of our total financial assets; in 1990, they held 20 percent. In the meantime, the number of banks has dropped from more than 12,500 to about 8,000.”
